Canadian citizen robbed in St. John’s over $3000 in cash and electronics

Source: Real News Antigua- A Canadian citizen of Antiguan parentage reported to the St. John’s Police Station at Dredge Bay that he had been robbed by two unknown young men.

During the incident, the perpetrators reportedly relieved him of his Lenovo laptop, valued at EC$900; an iPad valued at $2,000; US$40 and EC$10 in cash; one Canadian passport; his mother’s birth certificate; and a quantity of men’s clothing in a black pull-onsuitcase. It is alleged that the victim was at the Twist Mall on Redcliffe Street, at about 6:30 p.m. on January 20, when he was approached by these two unknown young men, who told him they knew of a place he could stay.

Reportedly, the pair took the visitor to an unknown location, where one of them pointed a shiny object at his back and indicated that it was a gun.

At this point, the victim claims, the other robber went through his suitcase and removed the items.

The visitor managed to escape from the robbers and found the St. John’s Police Station.

A search was carried out in the district and outskirts for anyone fitting the description of the alleged perpetrators and the stolen items, but without success.

One of the unknown men is said to be about 5’ 11” in height, dark in complexion, of a stocky  build, and was dressed in a white shirt and dark pants.

The other robber is described as being about 5’ 9,” of a slim build, and was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a braided hairstyle.
