Customer Spotlight: Fruity Chutes

As applications continue to expand for 3D printed drones, customers like Fruity Chutes have partnered with Shapeways to 3D print parachute parts like canister caps, bases, and more–all which are attached to their unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Headquartered in Monte Sereno, California, Fruity Chutes makes high-quality parachutes for major US corporate and government customers including NASA, Boeing, SpaceX, Google, and far more. To date, over 4,000 customers in over 50 countries purchase parachutes for the following:

  • All types of rocketry
  • Unmanned air vehicles, including drones
  • RC aircrafts
  • Balloon research

Shapeways 3D prints Fruity Chutes components using MJF PA12. “Shapeways 3D prints all the parts with such precision, providing the exact levels of strength and flexibility we need,” said Jayne Engelgau, of Fruity Chutes. “They ensure our devices are fully secured during flight while having the flexibility required for parachute deployment and user handling.”
