Electronics manufacturer opens $22M facility in Wayne County

With significant financial help from the state, a Boston-based electronics manufacturer has opened a $22 million facility in Wayne County.

Creation Technologies celebrated the opening of its 154,000-square-foot manufacturing facility this week at Silver Hill Technology Park in the village of Newark. The company has 550 employees in Wayne County, according to its website.

Empire State Development, New York’s lead economic development agency, supported the project with a $2 million Upstate Revitalizatoin Initiative grant and up to $3 million through the Excelsior Jobs program. Excelsior Jobs provides tax credits to companies that meet certain job creation goals.

Creation Technologies has created 179 new jobs — part of a pledge to create 360 new jobs in Wayne County, according to Gov. Kathy Hochul’s administration.

Other entities assisted with the project. NYSEG provided up to $600,000 and Creation Technologies received local incentives from the Wayne County Industrial Development Agency.

“Creation Technologies’ new facility is not just creating a major hub for jobs in New York’s Finger Lakes region — it’s also creating yet another hub for innovation upstate,” Hochul said in a statement.

Creation Technologies specializes in printed circuit board assembly, cable and wire harness assembly and comprehensive prototyping services. It provides electronic manufacturing services to aerospace, defense, medical and technology industries.

The company acquired IEC Electronics, a longtime Newark firm, in 2021. IEC was located on Norton Street in Newark.

“As an electronics manufacturing services provider for some of the most demanding applications, we’re proud to be able to offer our customers even greater capacity and capabilities at our Newark facility,” said Stephen DeFalco, chairman and CEO of Creation Technologies. “This investment will enable us to expand with our customers and provide the highest level of service and support.”

Outside of its headquarters in Boston, Creation Technologies has 13 locations, including manufacturing facilities in China and Mexico.
