We’re still a ways out from the winter holidays, but they’ll be here before you know it—so now is the time to mark your calendars so your gifts arrive on time. The major shipping services—USPS, UPS, and FedEx—each have deadlines for sending mail and packages if you want them to arrive ahead of Dec. 25.

Note that Dec. 24 is a Sunday this year, so shipping services may be more limited than usual on that date. Also, the deadlines listed below are for items sent within the U.S. For international shipping, check each service’s holiday calendar.

If you want your gifts to arrive before Dec. 25, mark these dates on your calendar:

USPS 2023 holiday shipping dates (for arrival by Dec. 25)

• Ship by Dec. 16 with Ground Advantage
• Ship by Dec. 16 with First-Class Mail
• Ship by Dec. 18 with Priority Mail Service (Dec. 16 for Hawaii)
• Ship by Dec. 20 with Priority Mail Express Service

Local post offices will be closed on Dec. 24–25, and regular mail will not be picked up or delivered. USPS will deliver Priority Mail Express mail on both days.

UPS 2023 holiday shipping dates (for arrival by Dec. 23)

• Ship by Dec. 19 with UPS 3 Day Select
• Ship by Dec. 20 with UPS 2nd Day Air
• Ship by Dec. 21 with UPS Next Day Air

For UPS Ground, use the service’s shipping calculator to determine the deadline for a Christmas arrival. (It will likely be earlier than Dec. 19.)

Some UPS stores may be open on Dec. 24 with modified hours, but no pickup or delivery services will be offered. UPS will be closed on Dec. 25.

FedEx 2023 holiday shipping dates (for arrival by Dec. 24)

• Ship by Dec. 19 with FedEx Express Saver
• Ship by Dec. 20 with FedEx 2Day and 2Day AM
• Ship by Dec. 22 with FedEx SameDay

Some FedEx Office locations may be open on Dec. 24 with modified hours but FedEx shipping services will not be available. FedEx is completely closed on Dec. 25.
