MANGALURU: Former student of Alva’s College, Moodbidri in Karnataka, Captain Sharanya Rao will lead the historictri-servicescontingent celebrating Nari Shakti at theRepublic DayParade in New Delhi on Friday.Hailing from Kodagu district, Rao is currently posted at Kargil with the Corps ofElectronics and Mechanical Engineers(EME).”I am happy to be part of the historical Republic Day Parade, which marks the first ever march of a tri-services contingent.I was part of the Republic Day Parade during my NCC days in college, and I’m again back for the second one, but with a different role,” said an elated Rao, who will attend the parade along with her parents Harish Rao and Mythri Rao, residents of Kukkalur in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu district.Rao, a supernumerary officer, had completed her masters of social work in 2020, in which she stood first, and was commissioned into the Indian Army as a military policeofficerin Nov 2021.. The contingent consists of women Agniveers from the three services.
